Need a Saratoga Springs photographer? You just found her. I’m Jen — I photograph families, seniors, maternity, newborns, weddings, and branding sessions throughout Saratoga Springs and the north Utah County area. I remember the first time I scouted locations out here and thinking, wait, there’s a literal lake AND mountain views AND gorgeous parks? How is this not everyone’s go-to? Saratoga Springs has exploded in the last few years, but the scenery hasn’t gotten any less beautiful. If anything, the new parks and trails have given me even more places to work with. I drive down from South Weber (about 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic through the Point), and the views along the way are a pretty solid warm-up for the views once I arrive.
What makes Saratoga Springs so photogenic
Two words: Utah Lake. (Okay, and about fifty other things.) Saratoga Springs sits right on the northwest shore of Utah Lake, and that water creates this incredible light — especially at sunset when the whole lake goes gold and pink and the mountains across the valley turn purple. It’s the kind of backdrop that makes every photo look like it belongs in a magazine, and I don’t even have to do anything fancy. Just show up at the right time and let nature do its thing.
But it’s not just the lake. Neptune Park is beautiful and well-maintained. The Harvest Hills area has these rolling hills and open spaces that are perfect for family sessions. Pelican Bay gives me waterfront options. And the Redwood Road corridor has some surprisingly great spots if you know where to look (I do).
Neighboring Eagle Mountain is right next door, and Highland is a quick drive east. If you’re anywhere in this corner of Utah County, I’ve got you covered.
What I photograph in Saratoga Springs
Families
Family sessions in Saratoga Springs are pure gold. The lake, the parks, the open spaces — every option creates a different mood, and I love helping families pick the one that feels most like them. Want casual and relaxed? Let’s hit Pelican Bay at sunset. Want something more lush and green? Neptune Park has gorgeous grass and trees. My whole thing is capturing real life — the chaos of three kids under seven, the quiet moment between you and your partner, the dog photobombing every other frame. Those are the images you’ll treasure. We’ll get your nice family portrait too, but the candid stuff? That’s where the magic lives.
Weddings & Elopements
A Saratoga Springs wedding photographer has access to some truly dreamy settings. Utah Lake at golden hour is absolutely unreal for ceremonies and portraits — that wide-open water with mountains in every direction creates a backdrop that needs zero decoration. I’ve photographed intimate elopements on the lakeshore and larger celebrations at local venues, and the common thread is always this: Saratoga Springs weddings have a relaxed, joyful energy that I adore capturing. Maternity
The lakeshore at golden hour. A flowing dress. Mountains in the background. That’s a Saratoga Springs maternity session, and it’s every bit as beautiful as it sounds. I photograph mamas between 28 and 34 weeks and guide you through every pose so you feel amazing the whole time. There’s something about shooting near water that adds this peaceful, reflective quality to maternity images — it just fits the season of life you’re in. Bring a dress that moves (the lake breeze will do the rest), and let’s make something gorgeous.
Newborns
Newborn sessions happen at your home. Always. You’ve got a brand-new baby and zero sleep — the last thing I’m going to do is ask you to pack up and drive somewhere. I come to your Saratoga Springs home with simple wraps and minimal props, find the best natural light in your space, and we go at baby’s pace. The tiny details are what we’re after: eyelashes, little fists, that impossibly soft skin. Siblings and parents are always included because this moment — your family right now, in this exact configuration — is worth documenting.
Senior Pictures
Saratoga Springs seniors have something most Utah County kids don’t: water. The lake gives you a completely different look than the typical mountain-and-field session. Add in the parks, the trails, and the newer commercial areas, and you’ve got serious variety without driving all over creation. I build senior sessions around your personality, your interests, and your style. We’ll plan locations together, you bring a couple outfits, and the result is a gallery that actually feels like you — not a carbon copy of everyone else’s senior pics.
Branding & Professional
Saratoga Springs is full of small business owners and entrepreneurs who need photos that actually look like them. Not stiff. Not corporate. Real, approachable, professional imagery that builds trust before you ever say a word. Whether you’re a realtor, a fitness instructor, a home-based business owner, or a creative — I’ll create images that work for your website, social media, and marketing. Clean, honest, and human.
Saratoga Springs locations and when they shine
| Location | Look & Feel | Best Time |
|---|---|---|
| Pelican Bay / Utah Lake shoreline | Waterfront, wide sky, mountain reflections, golden light | Spring through fall, sunset is unbeatable |
| Neptune Park | Green grass, mature trees, playground, well-maintained | Year-round, golden hour or overcast |
| Harvest Hills area | Rolling hills, open fields, mountain views, newer development | Summer and fall, evening light |
| Saratoga Hot Springs area | Unique terrain, lakeside, natural springs, textured landscape | Year-round, morning or golden hour |
| Redwood Road corridor open spaces | Wide fields, western views, agricultural feel | Summer and fall, sunset |
I’m always scouting new spots in Saratoga Springs because this area changes fast (in a good way). New parks, new trails, new neighborhoods with stunning views. If there’s a place that’s special to your family — your backyard, your neighborhood park, the trail you walk every evening — I’d love to shoot there. Personal locations always add an extra layer of meaning to your photos.
Tips for your Saratoga Springs session
- What to wear: Neutrals and earth tones look stunning against the lake — think cream, sage, dusty blue, mauve, camel. Avoid anything too busy or neon. And if we’re doing a lakeside session, consider the breeze factor when choosing hairstyles (half-up is your friend).
- Lake sessions — shoes situation: If we’re shooting near the water, bring shoes you don’t mind getting a little dusty or sandy. I won’t ask you to wade in (unless you want to — some couples totally go for it during engagements), but the shore can be soft ground.
- Golden hour at the lake: This is the session. The light reflecting off Utah Lake at sunset is legitimately one of the most beautiful things in Utah County. I’ll time everything so we catch it at its peak.
- Kids, snacks, reality: Snacks are mandatory. Bribery is encouraged. And relax — I’ve worked with every flavor of toddler meltdown and I know how to keep things moving. The “disaster” moments usually make the best photos anyway.
My photography style
I shoot with a Nikon Z6III and fast prime lenses, almost exclusively with natural light. My editing is warm, clean, and honest. Your skin looks like skin. The lake looks like the lake. No weird orange filters or over-processed skies. I include black and white edits in every gallery because certain moments just hit different without color — pure emotion, pure light. The goal is always the same: photos that feel timeless and true. Images you’ll still love when your newborn is graduating high school.
Saratoga Springs through the seasons
Spring here is gorgeous — the hills green up, the lake starts catching longer light, and the wildflowers along the shoreline start doing their thing. Summer is peak golden-hour season. The sun sets over the lake and the whole sky turns into a watercolor painting. I’m not exaggerating. (Okay, maybe slightly, but you’ll see.) Fall brings cooler temps, warmer tones, and that crisp Utah air that makes everything feel a little more vivid. The mountain reflections on the lake in October? Absolutely unreal. Winter is quiet and beautiful in its own way — snow on the mountains, frost on the fields, and the cleanest morning light you’ve ever seen. I photograph here year-round and every season delivers something special.
Frequently asked questions
- Is there a travel fee for Saratoga Springs? Nope! Saratoga Springs is within my regular service area. I come to you, no extra charge.
- How far in advance do I need to book? Most sessions: two to four weeks. Weddings: three to six months. Fall is my busiest season, so booking early helps.
- What if it’s super windy at the lake? Lake sessions can get breezy. Moderate wind adds beautiful movement to dresses and hair. If it’s extreme, we reschedule — no charge.
- How many edited photos will I receive? Typically 30 to 80, depending on session length.
- Can we do part of our session at the lake and part at a park? Absolutely. Split-location sessions work great, especially when the spots are close together (and in Saratoga Springs, they usually are).
- Do you offer prints and albums? Yes! Lab-quality prints, canvases, and heirloom albums. Details on my pricing page.
