Been looking for an Alpine photographer? Good. I’m Jen, and Alpine is one of my absolute favorite places to photograph. I work with families, seniors, maternity clients, newborns, wedding couples, and businesses throughout Alpine and the surrounding area. There’s really nowhere else in Utah County quite like it. Small town. Horse properties. The Timpanogos foothills literally in your backyard. It feels like stepping back in time a little, in the best possible way. I drive down from South Weber — roughly 50 minutes — and every single time I turn off the highway toward Alpine, my whole energy shifts. It’s just that kind of place.

What makes Alpine so special for photography

Alpine sits at the base of Mount Timpanogos, and that mountain does about 90% of the heavy lifting when it comes to making photos look incredible. But it’s more than just a pretty mountain. The town itself has character. Wide streets. Mature trees everywhere. Properties with actual land — fences, barns, fields. It gives me textures and backdrops that most Utah suburbs simply can’t offer.

Lambert Park is my bread and butter up here — trails, overlooks, wildflowers in season, and views that go on forever. But I also love the quieter spots: a dirt road near Box Elder Canyon, a horse property with weathered fencing, the Alpine Loop when the aspens are turning. The whole area feels like it was curated for a photographer, except nature just did it on its own.

Alpine borders Highland to the west and sits below the canyon that connects to Lindon and the Pleasant Grove area. Families in any of these neighboring cities — I work your area too.

What I photograph in Alpine

Families

Family sessions in Alpine have this effortless, organic quality that I love. Maybe it’s because the setting is so naturally beautiful that nobody has to try hard. You just show up, walk around, interact with your people, and the photos happen. Lambert Park is my top pick for variety — we can do open meadow, tree-lined trail, and mountain overlook all in one session without breaking a sweat. I’m capturing the real moments here: your four-year-old picking wildflowers instead of looking at the camera (perfect), your teenager reluctantly smiling and then genuinely laughing when Dad does something embarrassing (even more perfect). That’s the good stuff.

Weddings & Elopements

Alpine weddings are something else. As an Alpine wedding photographer, I get access to settings that range from intimate backyard ceremonies on sprawling properties to canyon-side elopements that feel like you’re the only two people on earth. My wedding style is documentary at its core — I capture what’s real, not what’s staged. The nervous laughter during vows. The tears. The kids stealing cake before it’s cut. Alpine’s natural beauty means you need almost zero extra decoration. The mountain is the decor. The golden light is the lighting design. It’s already perfect.

Maternity

There’s something poetic about a maternity session at the foot of a mountain. The scale of Timpanogos behind you, a new life growing inside you — it all feels connected somehow. (Or maybe I’m just getting sentimental in my old age.) Alpine’s wildflower meadows in Lambert Park, the golden fields in late summer, the mountain light — it all creates maternity photos that feel powerful and tender at the same time. I schedule between 28 and 34 weeks and guide every pose. Bring something flowy. The Alpine breeze will do incredible things with it.

Newborns

For Alpine newborns, I come to your home. Your cozy Alpine home with those mountain views out the window? Even better. I bring simple wraps and minimal props, work with your natural light, and go at baby’s pace entirely. These sessions are quiet and unhurried — exactly what a new family needs. I focus on the details that change faster than you think: the way they scrunch up their face, how impossibly small their feet are, the way they melt into your arms. Parents and siblings are always part of it.

Senior Pictures

Alpine seniors, you have access to the most gorgeous natural backdrop in Utah County. Full stop. Lambert Park overlooks, the Alpine Loop (especially in fall — oh my word), Box Elder Canyon trails, and the small-town streets with character for days. I build every senior session around you. Not a template. You. Your sport, your art, your personality, your style. Bring a few outfits, tell me what makes you you, and I’ll plan the locations and timing to match. Your photos should look like nobody else’s because they shouldn’t.

Branding & Professional

Alpine has a quietly impressive community of business owners, professionals, and creatives who need imagery that matches their quality. Not generic stock-photo headshots — real, professional images with personality. Whether you’re a consultant, a wellness practitioner, a real estate agent showcasing Alpine properties, or an artist in your studio, I create clean, approachable images that make people trust you at first glance.

Alpine locations and when they shine

Lambert Park Trails, meadows, overlooks, wildflowers, Timpanogos views Year-round, golden hour is spectacular
Alpine Loop (lower sections) Aspen groves, mountain stream, canyon walls, dramatic scenery Late spring through fall, especially peak autumn color
Box Elder Canyon area Wooded trail, creek, secluded canyon feel Summer, morning or late afternoon light
Horse properties / rural roads Fences, fields, barns, rustic charm, mountain backdrop Year-round, golden hour or overcast
Alpine town streets Mature trees, wide lots, small-town character Spring and fall, evening light

Alpine is one of those places where I could spend an entire day just scouting and never get bored. If you have a favorite trail, a family property, a spot where you and your partner love to walk — tell me about it. The best photos come from places that mean something to you. And if you’re not sure where to shoot, I’ve got plenty of ideas. (Can you tell I like it here?)

Session prep for Alpine

  • What to wear: Alpine’s palette is natural — greens, golds, mountain blues, earthy browns. Wardrobe in muted, earthy tones looks incredible here. Cream, olive, dusty rose, warm grey, denim. Coordinate as a family without matching. If we’re hiking into Lambert Park, comfortable shoes are a must (cute boots work great).
  • Trail sessions — what to expect: Lambert Park involves some walking on unpaved trails. Nothing strenuous, but it’s not a manicured park. Strollers work on the main paths. The payoff — those views — is absolutely worth the little bit of effort.
  • Fall in Alpine: If you can book during peak color (usually mid-to-late October), do it. The aspens on the Alpine Loop and the maples in Lambert Park create a backdrop that’s legitimately breathtaking. These slots fill up fast though, so plan ahead.
  • Wind and weather: Alpine sits right at the mountain’s base, so weather can be unpredictable. I always have a backup plan, and we can reschedule for free if conditions are truly bad.

My photography style

I shoot with a Nikon Z6III and fast prime lenses. Natural light, almost always — and in Alpine, the natural light is genuinely exceptional. My editing is warm, clean, and true to life. Real skin tones. Real colors. No heavy filters turning everything orange or teal. Every gallery includes black and white edits because some photos just need that raw, emotional treatment — shadow and light, nothing else. I want your photos to feel timeless. Not trendy. Not of-the-moment. The kind of images that still make your heart squeeze twenty years from now.

Alpine through the seasons

Spring in Alpine is wildflowers and snowmelt. Timpanogos is still loaded with snow while Lambert Park starts greening up and the first blooms appear. It’s that classic Utah contrast — winter on top, spring down below — and it creates a backdrop with incredible depth. Summer is golden evenings that last forever. The fields around Alpine turn warm, the sky goes soft, and the mountain light at 8 PM is just ridiculous. Fall. Oh man, fall in Alpine. I could write a whole essay about it. The Alpine Loop turns into a tunnel of gold and red and orange, Lambert Park maples go crimson, and the air gets that crisp bite that makes everyone look a little more alive. It’s peak season for a reason. Winter is quiet and stunning — snow on Timpanogos, frost on everything, and the most beautiful clear mornings you’ll find anywhere in the county.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Alpine in your service area? Absolutely. No travel fee — Alpine is one of my favorite places to work and I’m there regularly.
  • How early should I book? Two to four weeks for most sessions. Fall sessions in Alpine book early because of the foliage — reach out sooner rather than later. Weddings: three to six months.
  • Can we do a session on the Alpine Loop? Yes! The lower portions of the loop are accessible and gorgeous. During peak fall color, it’s one of the best spots in the entire state. Just know the road can be busy on autumn weekends.
  • What about horses in the photos? Alpine is horse country and I love including horses in sessions. If you have horses (or a neighbor who does), we can absolutely incorporate them. Just give me a heads-up so I can plan accordingly.
  • How many photos will I get? Typically 30 to 80 fully edited images depending on session type.
  • Do you sell prints? Yes — lab-quality prints, canvases, and heirloom albums through your gallery. Pricing details here.
