Looking for a Mapleton photographer? I’m Jen — and Mapleton is one of those places that makes me genuinely excited to pack up my gear and drive south. It’s about an hour from my home in South Weber, straight down I-15 and then east into the foothills, and every single time I turn off the highway toward Maple Mountain, I think the same thing: why don’t I come here more often? Orchards, quiet streets, mountain views that just don’t quit. If you’re looking for a photographer who knows how to use all of that, you’ve found her.
Mapleton — orchard country at the base of the mountain
Mapleton sits right where the valley floor meets Maple Mountain, and that transition zone is pure gold for photography. You’ve got wide agricultural fields on one side, foothills climbing steeply on the other, and in between — some of the most charming, tree-lined streets in Utah County. It’s quieter than Springville or Spanish Fork, and that calm pace shows up in the photos. People here aren’t in a rush. They’re out walking their dogs, kids are riding bikes, and the whole town has this unhurried, rooted feeling that I love.
Hobble Creek Canyon is right there, practically in Mapleton’s backyard. The canyon is one of my favorite spots in all of southern Utah County — the creek, the trees, the dappled light filtering through the canopy. And Mapleton City Park? Gorgeous mature trees, open grass, and mountain views that work for literally any type of session. Between the park, the orchards, the foothills, and the canyon, I have more location options in Mapleton than in cities three times its size.
What I photograph in Mapleton
Families
Mapleton family sessions feel different from anywhere else I shoot. Maybe it’s the orchards. Maybe it’s the mountain backdrop that makes everything feel grounded and real. Whatever it is, families relax here. We’ll pick a spot — the park, a quiet road with trees arching overhead, an orchard row in late spring — and then just hang out. I direct loosely. Walk this way. Pick up your kiddo. Now make each other laugh. The images that end up being everyone’s favorites are always the candid ones, the in-between moments when you forgot I was clicking. That’s what I’m after. Check out my family photography page to see more of what a session looks like.
Weddings & Elopements
A Mapleton photographer for your wedding means access to some of the most romantic settings in the county. Hobble Creek Canyon for an intimate elopement among the trees. A backyard ceremony with Maple Mountain towering behind you. Reception venues in nearby Springville or Spanish Fork with the valley stretching out in every direction. I shoot weddings with a calm, documentary approach — I’m there to capture what’s actually happening, not to stage it. The real laughter, the real tears, the real you. Take a look at my wedding work if you want a feel for my style.
Maternity
Those orchard rows in late spring? Blossoms everywhere, soft light, mountain views behind? That’s a maternity session dream. I photograph maternity between 28 and 34 weeks, and Mapleton gives us the kind of backdrop that makes you look and feel incredible without trying too hard. Bring a dress that moves. The breeze off the mountain does the rest. (And if blossoms aren’t in season, the golden fields in late summer and the warm foliage in fall are just as beautiful. Mapleton delivers year-round.)
Newborns
I come to you for newborns. You’ve got a brand-new baby — the last thing you need is to load everyone into the car. I bring simple wraps, work with your home’s window light, and move at whatever pace your little one sets. Feed, sleep, photograph, repeat. The focus is on tiny details — curled toes, scrunched noses, the way they tuck into your chest. Parents and siblings are always included. This is about your family right now, in this beautiful, exhausting, incredible moment.
Senior Pictures
Mapleton seniors, you have options. Orchard rows for a classic, timeless feel. Hobble Creek Canyon for something dramatic and outdoorsy. Downtown Springville (five minutes away) for artsy and urban. I build every senior session around your personality — your sport, your music, your thing. Bring two or three outfits, tell me who you are, and I’ll find the locations to match. Your senior photos should look like you, not like everyone else’s.
Branding & Headshots
Mapleton has its share of small business owners, creatives, and entrepreneurs who need professional imagery that doesn’t feel sterile. I shoot branding sessions and headshots with natural light and real settings — think clean and approachable, not corporate boardroom. Your website, your socials, your business cards — everything looks better with photos that actually represent who you are.

If you have a spot that’s special to you — a family orchard, your own backyard, a trail you hike every weekend — let’s use it. Some of my best work happens in places my clients pick because it means something personal to them.
Planning your Mapleton session
- What to wear: Muted, earthy tones work beautifully here — sage, dusty rose, cream, warm brown, soft blue. Coordinate outfits as a family without matching exactly. Avoid big logos and neon.
- Timing: Golden hour in Mapleton is something else. Maple Mountain blocks the sun earlier than you’d expect on the east side, so I plan carefully around the season to catch the best light. Trust me on timing — I’ve learned the hard way where the shadows fall.
- Kids: Bring snacks. Bring bribery. Let them run. The running-and-laughing shots always win. I know how to work with little ones who’d rather climb a tree than hold still, and honestly, those are my favorite kids to photograph.
- Relax into it: I give direction, but gently. Walk together, squeeze your kid, whisper something funny. Real moments beat stiff poses every single time.
My style — honest and timeless
I shoot with a Nikon Z6III and natural light. My editing is clean and warm — true-to-life colors, real skin tones, no heavy filters or trendy presets that’ll look dated in two years. Every gallery includes black and white edits because some moments just need that treatment. I want your images to feel like you, look like your life, and still be beautiful decades from now.
Mapleton through the seasons
Spring in Mapleton is blossoms. Everywhere. The orchards explode in whites and pinks while Maple Mountain still has snow on top — it’s a contrast that photographs like a dream. Summer is lush and green, the canyon is cool even when the valley floor is baking, and the light lasts until almost 9 PM. Fall might be Mapleton’s best season (don’t tell spring I said that). The orchard leaves go gold, Hobble Creek Canyon turns every shade of red and orange, and the air has that crisp bite that makes people look alive in photos. Winter brings snow-dusted foothills, bare orchard branches against grey skies, and a quiet beauty that’s completely different from any other season.
Questions I get asked
- How far in advance should I book? Two to four weeks for most sessions. Weddings — at least three to six months, especially for fall dates.
- What if it rains? We reschedule at no charge. But overcast? That’s some of my favorite light — soft, even, and flattering for everyone.
- How many final photos do I get? Typically 30 to 80 fully edited images depending on session type and length.
- Do you photograph in other nearby areas? All the time. I work in Payson, Salem, Vineyard, and all over Utah County.
- Can we bring our dog? Yes, please. Leash, treats, and patience. Dogs are always welcome.
- Do you offer prints? Absolutely — lab-quality prints, canvases, and heirloom albums through your online gallery.
