Hey there — if you’re on the hunt for a Spanish Fork photographer, I’m Jen Kunz, and I’d love to be your person. I’m based in South Weber (up near Ogden) but I work throughout Utah County, and Spanish Fork has this energy that I really dig. It’s not trying to be anything it’s not. It’s a small city with good bones — canyon access, river trails, genuine community pride, and a certain vibe that feels a little bit country in the best possible way. I photograph families, weddings, engagements, maternity sessions, newborns, seniors, and branding work all around Spanish Fork and south Utah County.

Why Spanish Fork works for photography

Spanish Fork sits at the south end of Utah Valley where things spread out a little. The city butts up against Spanish Fork Canyon to the southeast, the Spanish Fork River winds through town, and you can see mountains in basically every direction. It’s not as crowded as the cities farther north, which means more open space, more untouched spots, and that wide-sky feeling I love.

The Palmyra area south of town has quiet roads and fields with views that stretch forever. The river trail gives you cottonwoods and water and a natural feel that doesn’t require a canyon drive. And the canyon itself — Spanish Fork Canyon is less photographed than some of the others in Utah County, which honestly works in our favor. Fewer crowds, more space to work, and that raw, unstyled beauty that feels real instead of curated.

There’s also the Fiesta Days energy that runs through this town. Spanish Fork has a spirit — a little rowdy, a little traditional, completely authentic. I’ve photographed families here who have roots going back generations, and new families who chose SF specifically because it still feels like a real town. Both are right.

I also work in Provo, Orem, and the rest of north Utah County — but Spanish Fork’s got its own thing, and I respect that.

Family photography — the Spanish Fork way

Spanish Fork families tend to be active, outdoorsy, and not particularly interested in standing still for photos. Which is music to my ears, because that’s exactly how I shoot. My family photography approach is built on movement, real interaction, and the chaos that comes with kids being kids.

The Spanish Fork River Trail is wonderful for family sessions — shaded paths, water nearby, and enough room for kids to run without you panicking. The fields in the Palmyra area at sunset are breathtaking — golden grass, mountain backdrop, big Utah sky. For something more structured, the parks in town work great with their mature trees and open spaces.

I’m going to have your family walk together, play together, and actually interact instead of lining up and freezing. The images where someone’s mid-laugh or your kid just tackled their sibling — those are the ones that end up on your wall. I guarantee it.

Weddings and elopements

Spanish Fork weddings feel grounded. They feel real. I’ve photographed ceremonies here that ranged from a full reception hall to a family-only gathering in a backyard with string lights and the canyon in the background. Every single one had something that bigger, flashier weddings sometimes miss — genuine warmth.

Spanish Fork Canyon is an incredible elopement or first-look location. Dream Mine Road has views that are honestly insane (and hardly anyone photographs there). The wedding photography I do here is documentary-driven — I’m there to capture your day as it happens, not to stage a production. Quick creative portraits in good light, and then back to the party. Because that’s what matters.

Maternity sessions

Maternity photography in Spanish Fork can be whatever you want it to be. Mountain-framed and dramatic in the canyon. Soft and golden in the Palmyra fields. Natural and shaded along the river trail. The variety here means your session can match your personality — not a one-size-fits-all template.

I schedule between 28 and 34 weeks. Bring a dress that makes you feel amazing (flowy fabric against these backdrops is *chef’s kiss*). I’ll handle the posing, find the best light, and make sure you walk away feeling like the absolute powerhouse you are. Growing a human is no small thing. Your photos should reflect that.

Newborns — at your place

For Spanish Fork newborn sessions, I come to your home. You’ve got enough going on without adding “drive somewhere with a newborn” to your list. I bring minimal props — simple wraps, soft textures — and work with whatever gorgeous window light your home has. Your baby is in charge of the schedule. Fed and sleeping? We shoot. Fussy? We pause. No rush, no stress.

The tiny toes, the scrunchy faces, the way they sleep curled up like they haven’t figured out there’s space now — those details disappear so fast. Parents and siblings are part of every session. This is about your whole crew welcoming someone new. First two weeks are best.

Senior portraits

SF seniors, you’ve got some seriously cool backdrop options. The canyon for raw mountain scenery. The river trail for natural, earthy vibes. The fields south of town for wide-open golden hour shots. Or we can find something that’s completely unique to your personality — a spot that says something about who you are, not just where you live.

I build every senior portrait session around you. Your sport, your art, your style, your vibe. Bring two or three outfits and let me do the rest. These photos should make you feel like the most interesting version of yourself. Because you probably are.

Branding and headshots

Spanish Fork has a solid small-business community, and if you’re building something here, you need photos that show it. Not a generic headshot — real branding imagery. Your workspace, your product, your personality. I create images that build trust and make your online presence feel professional AND human. Because that’s what people connect with.

Spanish Fork photo locations

Location Look & Feel Best Time
Spanish Fork River Trail Cottonwoods, shaded paths, water, natural and relaxed Spring through fall, late afternoon
Spanish Fork Canyon (lower sections) Canyon walls, mountain drama, pine and scrub, rugged beauty Summer and fall, golden hour
Palmyra area fields Open agricultural land, wide sky, mountain panorama, golden grass Summer and fall, sunset
Dream Mine Road area Elevated views, open terrain, valley panorama, secluded feel Spring through fall, evening light
Town parks and neighborhoods Mature trees, green grass, small-town charm Spring through fall, golden hour

This is not an exhaustive list. Spanish Fork and the surrounding area have spots I’m still discovering, and I love that. If you have a place that matters to you — a family property, a favorite trail, the field behind your house — let’s shoot there. Personal locations make the most meaningful photos.

Before your session

  • Wardrobe: Soft, neutral tones — sage, cream, dusty blue, rust, warm grey. Skip neon, logos, and anything too trendy. Families: coordinate colors, don’t all wear identical outfits.
  • Timing: I book everything around golden hour. Spanish Fork’s evening light is fantastic because the wide valley catches it long after the narrow canyons farther north go dark.
  • Kids: Bring all the snacks. A small toy or book for between setups. And honestly just let them be kids — I’ve worked with enough toddlers to know that the best approach is going with the flow.
  • Keep it real: Walk together. Play. Be silly. My best images come from real moments, not forced poses. I’ll guide you, but loosely.

My style

I shoot with a Nikon Z6III and fast prime lenses, natural light only. My editing is clean, warm, and true to life — real skin tones, real colors, nothing trendy that’ll look weird in five years. Black and white edits in every gallery because some moments just need that timeless, stripped-down treatment. The goal is always images that last.

Questions I get asked

  • How far in advance should I book? Two to four weeks for most sessions. Weddings, book three to six months out.
  • Is there a travel fee for Spanish Fork? No travel fee for anywhere in Utah County. I’m down here regularly.
  • What if the weather doesn’t cooperate? Rain = free reschedule. Clouds = secretly my favorite. Soft, even light makes everything look amazing.
  • How many images will I receive? 30 to 80 fully edited photos, depending on session type and length.
  • Pets? Always welcome. Leash, treats, and a good sense of humor. Some of my best shots involve uncooperative dogs.
  • Do you do prints? Professional lab-quality prints, canvases, and heirloom albums — all available through your online gallery.
