Utah Maternity Photographer
Expecting a little one and searching for a Utah maternity photographer who’ll make you feel beautiful, comfortable, and genuinely excited about this chapter?
I’m Jen — a portrait photographer based in South Weber, Utah — and maternity sessions hold a really special place in my heart.
There’s something incredible about capturing a mama (and her partner, and her family) in this brief, powerful, completely transformative season.
Whether you want something ethereal and flowy on a mountaintop, warm and golden in an open field, or cozy and intimate at home, I’ll help you feel like yourself — the best, most radiant version of yourself.
Why maternity photography matters
Pregnancy is one of those things that feels like it lasts forever while you’re in it — and then suddenly your baby is here and you can barely remember what your belly looked like at 36 weeks. The exhaustion, the excitement, the middle-of-the-night hunger, the way your body changed to build an actual human being — all of it starts to blur together once you’re deep in the newborn fog.
Maternity photos freeze that moment. They remind you of the anticipation, the tenderness, the quiet strength of carrying new life.
They show your child, someday, what their first home looked like — and how loved they were before they ever took a breath. They tell a story that can’t be told any other way.
I know that a lot of mamas feel hesitant about maternity sessions. “I don’t look like myself.” “I’m so swollen.” “I don’t know how to pose.” I hear it all the time, and I get it.
But here’s what I know after photographing dozens of expecting moms: you are going to look at these images and feel proud.
Not because they’re airbrushed or unrealistic, but because they show you exactly as you are — strong, glowing, and about to change the world for someone very small.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about preservation. You will never be this version of yourself again. That’s worth capturing.
And for the partners and families who join the session — watching you look at your pregnant partner, or a toddler pressing their ear to the belly to “listen” — those images are just as powerful. Family maternity sessions tell a complete story of a family on the edge of becoming bigger.
What to expect at your maternity session
A maternity session with me is gentle, relaxed, and all about making you feel incredible. Here’s what the experience looks like from start to finish.
Before the session
Once you book, I’ll send you a prep guide with everything you need to know — outfit ideas, timing tips, and what to expect on the day.
We’ll talk about your vision: Are you going for a soft, romantic outdoor session with a flowing dress and mountain backdrop? A lifestyle shoot at home with your partner and other kids? Something dramatic and editorial?
I’ll help you nail the look and location based on what feels right for you.
The best time for maternity photos is typically between 28 and 34 weeks — your belly is beautifully round and you’re still comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the session. But every body and every pregnancy is different, so we’ll find the timing that works best for you specifically.
During the session
Maternity sessions usually last about 45 to 60 minutes. I’ll guide you through flattering poses that highlight your bump beautifully while keeping everything natural and comfortable — never anything that strains or feels awkward.
If your partner is joining, we’ll work in couple poses that feel intimate and connected: hands on the belly, foreheads together, quiet moments of anticipation.
If your older kids are there, we’ll capture the sweet, chaotic, totally real moments of siblings meeting the bump for the first time.
I move at your pace, not mine. If you need a break, we take one. If you want to sit down, we sit. If the sun is doing something incredible over the mountains and we want to soak it in for an extra few minutes, we do that too.
Your comfort comes first, always.
After the session
Your fully edited gallery is delivered within 2 to 3 weeks. Every image is individually edited for color, tone, and light — soft, warm, and natural. No heavy filters, no unrealistic skin editing.
Just you, looking exactly like the beautiful version of yourself that you are. You’ll receive a private online gallery where you can download, share, and order prints.
Most maternity sessions include 30 to 60+ edited images depending on length and whether it’s a solo or family session.
Timing matters with maternity sessions — book early so we can schedule during your ideal window and not rush to fit it in.
Where we shoot
Utah’s natural beauty makes it a dream for maternity photography. Soft light, mountain backdrops, wildflower fields, canyon walls, open valleys — it’s like nature designed the perfect maternity portrait setting and dropped it in our backyard.
I’ve shot maternity sessions all over the Wasatch Front and have a strong sense of what each location offers in every season.
Some of my favorite maternity photography locations:
- Big Cottonwood Canyon — Lush greenery, soft creek-side light, and a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for the gentle, romantic feel of maternity portraits. Especially beautiful in summer and early fall.
- Ogden’s East Bench foothills — Golden grasses and wide-open valley views. Stunning at sunset with flowing dresses and warm light painting everything amber.
- North Ogden Divide — Mountain meadows and wildflowers during summer. Ethereal and completely gorgeous — one of my favorite spots for soft, dreamy images.
- Your home — Lifestyle maternity sessions at home are intimate and personal in a way that outdoor sessions can’t replicate. The nursery you’ve been putting together, your bedroom in morning light, your kitchen while you make tea — these spaces tell the story of the life you’re building for your baby.
- Antelope Island — Open skies, wild grasses, and water in the distance. Dramatic and breathtaking for mamas who want something bold and striking.
- Pineview Reservoir area — Mountain lake scenery with soft evening light filtering through the trees. Quiet and beautiful.
- Wheeler Farm — Rustic barns and open fields for a warm, earthy feel. Especially lovely in late afternoon light.
I’m always flexible on locations and genuinely love scouting somewhere new. If there’s a meaningful spot — a trail you hike together, your family’s property, a place with a story — I’d love to shoot there.

Frequently asked questions
- When should I book my maternity session? I recommend booking during your second trimester so we can schedule during the 28- to 34-week sweet spot. That said, I work with mamas at all stages — even last-minute sessions at 37 or 38 weeks can turn out beautifully. The important thing is to reach out so we can make a plan.
- What should I wear? I’ll send you a detailed guide when you book, but fitted dresses, flowy gowns, and form-fitting tops that show off your bump all photograph beautifully. Solid colors and soft, flowing fabrics work best. Some mamas have a special dress in mind, others prefer casual comfort — both look amazing and I’ll help you make the call.
- Should my partner be in the photos? That’s completely up to you. Many mamas include their partner for part of the session and do solo portraits for the other part. Both options create gorgeous images, and having that mix means you’ll get intimate couple shots and powerful solo images from the same session.
- Can I bring my other children? Absolutely — and I love when they come along. Little hands on the belly, big-sibling excitement, toddlers who can’t quite grasp what’s happening but are clearly thrilled about it — these moments add so much heart to the gallery. Kids add a layer of joy and authenticity that makes the images even more meaningful.
- What if I feel uncomfortable or need a break? Your comfort is my top priority, full stop. We go at your pace, take breaks whenever you need, and I’ll never push you into a pose that doesn’t feel right. These sessions are meant to make you feel beautiful and celebrated — not stressed, not rushed, not pushed past your limits.
- How many photos will I receive? Most maternity sessions include 30 to 60+ fully edited images, depending on session length and whether it’s a solo or family session. Every single image is individually edited.
