Looking for a Logan photographer? You’re in the right place. I photograph families, seniors, maternity sessions, newborns, weddings, and branding work throughout Logan and the Cache Valley area. Logan is one of those special places that combines small-city culture with jaw-dropping mountain scenery. Between Utah State University, the vibrant downtown, and Logan Canyon literally at your doorstep, there’s no shortage of beautiful places to shoot. I make the drive up from the Ogden area regularly because this valley is just that good.

Why Logan and Cache Valley are worth every mile

Logan sits in the heart of Cache Valley, cradled between the Bear River Mountains to the east and the Wellsville Mountains to the west. It’s about an hour north of Ogden through Sardine Canyon, and every time I drive up, the scenery reminds me why I love working here. The valley is wide and green, the mountains are close and dramatic, and the light has a quality that’s different from anywhere along the Wasatch Front — cleaner, sharper, and absolutely stunning during golden hour.

Beyond Logan itself, I regularly photograph in North Logan, Smithfield, Providence, Hyde Park, and Wellsville. Cache Valley is tight-knit enough that a session might start at a park in Logan and end at a trailhead in North Logan without anyone blinking. If you’re in the valley, I know where to find the best light and the most beautiful backdrops for whatever you have in mind.

What I photograph in Logan

Families

Family sessions in Logan are something I truly look forward to. The parks, the canyon, the campus — every setting brings a different feel, and Cache Valley families tend to be active, outdoorsy, and comfortable in front of the camera once they get rolling. I focus on real moments: the chaos of little kids, the tenderness between partners, the laughter that erupts when someone does something silly. We’ll get the classic group portrait, but the images that end up on your walls will be the ones where you forgot I was there.

Weddings & Elopements

As a Logan wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of working in some of Cache Valley’s most beautiful settings. Logan Canyon alone offers enough elopement locations to fill a lifetime — from riverside meadows to alpine lakes. Weddings here range from elegant receptions at downtown venues to intimate backyard ceremonies with the mountains as a backdrop. I bring a calm, documentary approach to every wedding. My job is to capture what’s real, not to manufacture moments. The emotion, the light, the details — I handle all of it so you can be present in your day.

Maternity

Cache Valley’s wide-open fields and mountain-framed horizons create a maternity setting that’s hard to top. I love finding a spot where the valley stretches out around you — it gives the images a sense of beauty and possibility that mirrors the season you’re in. Sessions work best between 28 and 34 weeks, and I’ll guide you through every pose so you feel confident and gorgeous. Bring a dress that flows and highlights your belly, and the rest falls into place.

Newborns

For newborn sessions in Logan, I come to your home. New parents have enough to manage without packing up the car and driving somewhere with a days-old baby. I bring simple wraps and minimal props, work with whatever window light your home offers, and move at your baby’s pace. The images focus on the details you’ll want to remember: tiny toes, sleeping faces, the way they fit perfectly in your hands. Parents and siblings are always part of it — this is about your whole family welcoming someone new.

Senior Pictures

Logan seniors have access to one of the most diverse ranges of backdrops in the state. USU campus for architecture and texture, Logan Canyon for dramatic mountain scenery, downtown for urban character, or the valley fields for something wide and golden. I tailor every senior session to who you are. Your sport, your art, your personality — it all goes into planning the locations, timing, and feel of your gallery. The result is senior photos that are unmistakably yours.

Real Estate & Branding

As a Logan branding photographer, I help Cache Valley professionals, small business owners, and real estate agents present themselves and their properties with clarity and style. Whether you need headshots for your USU practice, lifestyle imagery for your brand, or real estate photography for Logan listings, I bring clean composition, honest lighting, and an eye for what makes your work appealing. Professional imagery that feels approachable — not corporate, not cold, just real.

Logan locations and when they shine

Logan and the surrounding area give me an incredible range of options. Here are some of the locations I return to again and again:

Location Look & Feel Best Time
Logan Canyon (Wind Caves trailhead area) Dramatic canyon walls, river, forested mountain setting Late spring through fall, morning or golden hour
Utah State University campus (Old Main hill) Historic buildings, stone steps, broad lawns, academic character Year-round, golden hour or overcast
Merlin Olsen Central Park Mature trees, pond, walking paths, downtown adjacent Spring through fall, evening light
Providence Canyon / Spring Creek Trail Wooded canyon, creek, lush greenery, secluded feel Late spring and summer, morning light
Cache Valley farmland (west of Logan) Wide agricultural fields, unobstructed mountain panorama, big sky Summer and fall, sunset

This list barely scratches the surface. Logan Canyon alone has dozens of pull-offs and meadows worth exploring, and the valley floor offers different light and texture depending on the season. If you have a spot that’s meaningful to you — a favorite hike, a family farm, the place you got engaged — I’d love to shoot there.

Planning your session without the fuss

  • Wardrobe that photographs well: Soft, muted tones are your best friend — dusty blue, sage, cream, terra cotta, warm grey. Avoid neon, large logos, and overly trendy pieces. Coordinate as a family but don’t match identically.
  • Timing that flatters: Cache Valley golden hour is exceptional. The wide valley floor catches light longer than the narrow Wasatch canyons, giving us more time to work with that perfect warm glow. I’ll set the timing for the best light based on season.
  • Kids, snacks, sanity: Snacks are non-negotiable. A small toy or book for transitions helps. And the golden rule: let them be kids. I know how to work with little ones who’d rather run than sit still, and those running shots are usually the ones parents love most.
  • Movement over stiffness: Walk toward me, pick up your kid, dance in the field. The best images come from real interaction, not stiff posing. I give direction, but loosely — because genuine connection always photographs better than rehearsed smiles.

For maternity sessions, a fitted or flowing gown works beautifully against Cache Valley’s sweeping landscapes. Newborn sessions require almost nothing from you — warm house, fed baby, and I handle the rest. Seniors should bring two or three outfits and let me know their vibe so I can pick the best locations to match.

Style you can count on

I photograph with a Nikon Z6III and fast prime lenses, relying on natural light for nearly every session. My editing style is clean, warm, and honest — no heavy filters, no orange skin tones, no oversaturated skies. Colors look true to life. Skin looks like skin. The light looks like the light that was actually there. Every gallery includes black and white edits, because certain moments carry more weight when stripped down to contrast and tone. My goal is photography that feels timeless — images that will look as good on your wall in 2036 as they do today.

Seasonal rhythm across Logan

Spring in Cache Valley is lush and green — the snow melts off the valley floor while the mountains stay white, creating a dramatic contrast that I love shooting against. Summer brings golden fields, wildflower meadows, and light that doesn’t quit until after 9 PM. Fall in Logan is legendary: the maples in Logan Canyon turn vibrant reds and oranges while the valley floor glows gold, and the air sharpens with that first autumn chill. Winter is quiet but beautiful — fresh snow on the Wellsville Mountains, frost-covered pastures, and the clean stillness of a cold morning. Cache Valley has four distinct seasons, and each one offers something I look forward to photographing.

Quick answers for curious people

  • How far in advance should I book? Two to four weeks for most sessions; weddings, three to six months.
  • What if it rains? We reschedule at no cost. Overcast skies, though, are some of my favorite conditions.
  • How many final images will I receive? Depends on session length, typically 30 to 80 fully edited images.
  • Do you offer albums or prints? Yes. Lab-calibrated prints, canvases, and heirloom albums are available through your gallery.
  • Can we bring our pet? Absolutely. Leash for safety, treats for bribery, and patience for everyone.
